Fatima is a place of faith and pilgrimage. It is one of the most important religious centers in the world, where history tells us that three little shepherds witnessed the apparition of Our Lady on May 13, 1917. Visited by several Popes, the last being Pope Francis. Visit the imposing neoclassical basilica that is in the heart of the Sanctuary of Fatima and the tombs of the three shepherds that are inside it, also the small chapel of the apparitions, as it marks the site of the apparitions of Our Lady.
Coimbra, a riverside city in central Portugal and the country's former capital, is home to a preserved medieval old town and the historic University of Coimbra. Built on the site of a former palace, the University is famous for its Baroque library, the Biblioteca Joanina, and its 18th-century bell tower. In the old town is the 12th century Romanesque cathedral, the Sé Velha.
